"Seeds & Receipts came out of wanting to honor women and Black & Brown folks throughout the diaspora who have cooked and fed communities for the past hundreds of years."


Maya Marie is an experienced farmer, cook, educator, and history curator. Maya advocates for making information about food history widely accessible so that more BIPOC are employed to learn about their own rich food histories and build on them. ⁣⁣


An ongoing, multimedia project honoring elements of Maya's food story and how it is (and sometimes isn’t) interconnected with larger stories of food in the African diaspora.
