I harvested some Chamomile from my stoop garden and used the staples in my pantry to make a restorative tea. With everything going on in today's society, something as simple as sleep/rest can become a luxury. Typically, the hardest part about getting rest, is actually falling asleep. Food can always be used as medicine so I combined various herbs and spices that have restorative and calming properties to create a delicious remedy.
Enjoy this delicious beverage before going to bed or taking a nap. Or, enjoy this beverage during the day to bring some calmness to your overall demeanor.
Benefits of Ingredients in this Recipe:
2 Cups of Plant-Based Milk
2 Tbsp of Fresh Chamomile Flowers (Or 1 Chamomile Tea Bag)
2 Tbsp of Dried Hibiscus Flowers
1/2 Tsp of Turmeric
1/2 Tsp of Ginger
Tsp of Cinnamon
1-2 Tbsp of Honey (Depending on desired sweetness)
In a small saucepan, add plant-based milk and all of the ingredients except the honey and bring to a boil. Once it reaches a boil, reduce to simmer and add the honey. Place a cover over the saucepan and steep for 5-8 minutes. Use a mesh strainer, or a cheesecloth to strain the mixture once you take it off the heat. Serve warm in a mug or chilled with ice.
